When Water Dreams - Art Reception & Artist Talk External Event Page
Bay Model Visitor Center   Organization Web Page
Sausalito, California
Canadian artist/photographer Bill Peters presents large-scale color images of the salt ponds, sloughs and wetlands of San Francisco Bay shot from a helicopter from 2009 through July of this year. The shoreline of San Francisco Bay is a crucible where the human forces that work on land and water intersect with nature. Infused with the graphic power and emotional sensibilities of formalist abstract art and color field painting, Peters' work surprises: at first glance it appears fully abstract, indistinguishable from paintings. On closer inspection, however, roads, boats, birds, vehicles and vegetation reveal the work as stunning photographs of San Francisco Bay landscapes and waterscapes. Peters is an international visual artist who has had over 30 exhibitions in US and Canadian museums and galleries. His work is included in the Province of Alberta's collection. //// November 19, 2019 - January 25, 2020 exhibition dates //// Reception: Sat, Nov 23, 1pm-3pm and Art Talk starts 1:30pm

A Seaweed Sanctuary - Art Exhibition External Event Page
Sausalito, California
Josie Iselin and Ellen Litwiller come together with delightful visions of seaweed and the wonders that live within. Although they work in different mediums, both have extensive experience bringing art and science together, Josie's newest book recently out "The Curious World of Seaweed" and Ellen's exhibit/illustration work for Natural History Museums/publications. Their work engages and challenges the way we can observe, appreciate and learn about the underwater world of seaweed. /////October 8 - November 16, 2019
