HMSF, located in downtown Miami, is a well-established institution with approximately 40 full and part-time employees and an annual budget of $3 million. HMSF maintains extensive collections and an active permanent and changing exhibitions program, dedicated to interpreting the history and contemporary life of South Florida and the Caribbean. The new Assistant Curators will collaborate with other museum staff to develop collections and create innovative exhibitions for diverse audiences. One position will focus on collections management and documentation, with some exhibition responsibilities. The second position will focus on research, script-writing, collecting and project management for exhibitions, with some collections management responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • M.A. in history, anthropology, museum studies or a related field
  • Previous museum experience
  • Familiarity with collections software
  • Strong writing skills
  • Knowledge of U.S. and/or Caribbean history
  • Ability to multitask and work as part of a team is essential
