Bring your love of Japanese culture to work with you! The Morikami Museum in Delray Beach needs you to help make Japanese art and culture come alive for its visitors.
As Curator, you will have the exciting opportunity to develop exhibitions, make acquisitions, research and write interpretative text and explain Japanese art and culture to museum visitors.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Researching, planning, developing, preparing and making acquisitions for exhibits
- Developing exhibition topics, themes and story lines
- Researching and writing interpretative text for exhibition labels
- Explaining Japanese art and material culture to the public
- Securing loans of objects not currently owned
- Coordinating the cataloging and photography of works of art
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in the Humanities with major coursework in Japanese history, language or culture and at least 1 year of experience in museum work
OR
- Master's degree in Museum or Japanese Studies
OR
- Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with coursework in Japanese history or culture and 2 years of related experience
You also must be able to lift 50 pounds, have a valid Florida driver's license and a good driving record. Fundraising experience is preferred.
