The Director of Development is responsible for the design and implementation of an aggressive development program, which will produce a steady, predictable flow of private gift support for the Museum. Candidate will lead all areas of development including individual, corporate, and foundation giving. The Director of Development will report directly to the Hirshhorn’s Deputy Director, Chief of External Relations and Planning and will supervise development officers and staff in the areas of individual giving, corporate/foundation/institutional giving, operations, donor relations and special events.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of senior, professional development experience, including significant experience within a large, complex organization and raising $2 million to $5 million annually; a proven track record in developing and managing comprehensive fundraising programs; demonstrated success closing major gifts from private individuals; demonstrated ability to establish, maintain and strengthen relationships with significant donors on behalf of an institution; and experience identifying, enlisting, activating and supporting an active voluntary Board.
