Polk Museum of Art continues its search for an art educator with 3-5 years of museum experience. Will be responsible for direction, development, implementation, promotion and evaluation of all Museum educational and interpretive programming and services for children and adults, both in-house and outreach. The successful candidate will supervise the Education Department staff, school services, classes, docent programs, and the departmental budget. As a department head, the Curator will function as part of the Museum’s management team, reporting to the Executive Director.

Founded in 1966, the Polk Museum of Art is an accredited museum located in sunny Lakeland, Florida, which was named as one of the ten best places to live in America. Lakeland is conveniently located in Central Florida, between Orlando and Tampa. Last year 125,000+ people participated in the Museum’s exhibitions, education programs and special events. The Museum is housed in a modern 37,000-sq. ft., state of the art, Museum facility.
Qualifications
Qualifications for this position include an MA/MFA in museum education, art education, or studio art, with demonstrated experience, coursework, and an interest in museum educational programs, studio art programs, and activities. BA/BFA will be considered with demonstrated experience levels. Experience in budget management, staff and volunteer supervision, fund raising, grant/proposal development and donor/volunteer cultivation, as well as effective communication skills through public lectures and in writing is necessary.
Compensation
Salary is negotiable with a comprehensive benefit package. Relocation expenses will not be covered.
