Bring Us Your Passion for Nature and Spread Our Vision Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History is seeking an EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR.

We are searching for a dynamic visionary with a passion for nature and wildlife, who has the ability to articulate and grow our mission to foster relationships between people and nature and inspire stewardship of the natural world. The Executive Director of the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History will lead, direct and drive the outreach and expansion of the museum and community programs focused on connecting people with nature.

Fast forward one year from today. You will have been directly responsible for initiating substantial growth of the museum’s fundraising, membership and community involvement efforts, while making possible new creative, informative and inspiring experiences for our community. As a compelling communicator and strategic leader you will have expanded and strengthened our community ties by inspiring involvement, creating symbiotic relationships within the business community and corporate channels through win/win programs and will have nurtured an enthusiastic, supportive and cohesive team spirit within the organization.

Your efforts will have developed our capital campaign for our new museum construction plans which will provide additional museum space for expanded exhibits and community offerings. Your success in the development of contributions, fundraising and growing existing relationships will have made it possible to expand the annual budget, thereby supporting new projects, exhibits, education, and events which you will have strategically implemented through a combination of innovative program development and best business practices.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a great communicator, have a strong track record of accomplishment in fundraising through multiple channels, proven leadership as an effective manager of complex dynamic organizations in process of change, will have exceptional organizational and administrative skills, including the ability to plan, set goals and objectives, organize, and follow through. You will also have the ability be an effective decision maker within a consensus-oriented management.

Your candidacy will leap to the top if you’ve also got a successful track record of fundraising in a non-profit environment, have knowledge of government and non-profit fiscal management; including the ability to increase both earned and contributed income. Ideally the successful candidate will have a passion for nature and wildlife with a degree in a related field.

The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History will experience unprecedented levels of success because of your creative and strategic ingenuity and personal impact.
