The Children's Museum of Naples (C’mon) is seeking a full-time Development Director. The position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining a comprehensive private and public sector fundraising program on behalf of C’mon and to enhance the mission and vision established by the Board of Directors.
Primary Responsibilities
Identify, define and acquire funding resources available to C’mon for the Capital Campaign, ongoing operation, programming and special projects which should involve a mix of government, corporate, and individual sources.
Work collaboratively with Executive Director to design and implement a comprehensive development program and appropriate marketing strategies for C’mon in keeping with the Museum’s goals. Monitor and analyze outcomes from development programs/strategies including evaluation of cost effectiveness.
Responsible for maintaining close working relationships with the Board and the active, ongoing, and smooth functioning of this Board as it seeks to increase private and public sector funding for C’mon.
Prepare reports and briefings to be utilized by Board of Directors, Executive Director and staff.
Develop and manage C’mon’s fund-raising budgets. Forecast expenditures and income targets. Monitor and adjust budgets as necessary.
Oversee the design and maintenance of C’mon development-related databases. Ensure database meets the needs of staff and reporting requirements for funders.
Seek new corporate/foundation funding sources and maintain relationships with current and past donors. Represent C’mon in meeting with potential funding sources.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Participate in long and short term strategic planning, development and review of policies, systems and procedures.
Prepare informational reports for funders.
Oversee coordination of special events for fund-raising.
Develop and implement donor benefit and recognition programs.
Develop and launch the C’mon family and corporate membership programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Significant development experience including knowledge of foundation/corporate solicitations, government funding, grant writing, communications, special events, capital campaigns and annual giving.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in public speaking.
General computer literacy, internet knowledge and experience with basic Microsoft Office and DonorPerfect Online.
Ability to do multiple tasks, prioritize them and work well with frequent interruptions.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
Flexibility, dependability, and professional demeanor.
Ability to work well independently.
Working Conditions:
