Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial ledgers, records and files.
  • Record invoices, ensure accuracy of invoices, and pay bills in a timely manner.
  • Prepare annual 1099’s to required vendors.
  • Process semi-monthly payroll and maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Record and enter cash receipt journal entries.
  • Assist with monthly closing process, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Assist in maintaining general ledger/accounting system including: chart of accounts, vendor accounts, period closing, and budget input.
  • Prepare financial management reports as needed.
  • Assist in the adherence of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support development staff in grant management activities, including preparation of payment requests.
  • Additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Accounting or related area of study or an Associate Degree in Accounting with additional two years experience.

Experience: A minimum of at least two years of non-profit accounting/bookkeeping experience required. Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with tact and discretion. Must be committed, and sensitive, to working with children. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and with a team. Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem solving. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Peachtree accounting software a plus.
