Primary Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for optimal donor database management, report creation and generation (Raiser’s Edge)
  • Strategize, write letters, acknowledgements and recruits for all membership levels from the highest to the general
  • Implement a proactive marketing plan for membership that includes direct mail and recruitment on-site at the museum and on the website
  • Update membership brochure; maintain a benefits program that is mission-based and of the highest quality
  • Monitor progress of membership and prepare detailed plans and recommendations for ongoing improvements to the program
  • Handle ongoing member relations, phone inquiries related to membership and oversee the Development Assistant in this regard; tracks membership benefits
  • Responsible for/coordinates accurate computerized records of donors and their gift histories, and hard files for members and donors
  • Work with Director of Administration to develop and administer a system monitoring dues payments; ensure accuracy of development records with accounting records
  • Systematize and oversees renewals and acknowledgements process with Development Assistant
  • Organizes mailings in coordination with staff, volunteers, interns and mail house
  • Train reception and store staff to implement the highest level of customer service standards and to participate in membership sales
  • Help identify prospects for higher levels of giving
  • Collaborate with appropriate departments to create special programming and events for members
  • Create regular reports and analyses on acquisitions, renewals, special appeals, on-site sales and other areas for Director of Individual Giving and Director of Development
  • Train and supervise interns to assist with office support
  • Additional duties as required
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in related area of study.

Experience: Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge a must. Two to four years membership experience with progressively increased responsibility, preferably at an arts or educational institution. Must be committed, and sensitive, to working with children. A knowledge of and/or openness to contemporary art, and the ability to communicate in a positive manner. Demonstrated marketing experience and skills. Excellent communication and writing skills. Proven track record in working directly with the public and providing first-rate customer service. Strong organizational and management skills; ability to prioritize. Ability to work with people in all stations of life (including Directors, corporate leaders, major donors, support staff, etc.). Detail-oriented and able to observe the highest level of discretion. Ability to make decisions under pressure. Ability to multi-task and keep strict deadlines. Creative, energetic, and goal-oriented. Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
