Collections Care Manager

The Flagler Museum is seeking an experienced, full-time Collections Care Manager to serve as a member of the Curatorial team. Under direction of the Chief Curator, this position is responsible for the the day-to-day upkeep of the public areas of the Museum and collections on display, including primarily custodial care, cyclical care planning, pest management, and conservation assessment of historic objects and architectural fabric. The position supervises a custodial staff of four. Working with the Registrar, the incumbent carries out basic maintenance and care of collection items. The Collections Care Manager also serves on the Curatorial exhibit team, helping to plan and install two exhibits per year.
Qualifications
Experience with art handling and knowledge of standard museum practice are necessary. Specialized knowledge of preventative conservation, preservation, art history, or the history of decorative arts is highly desirable. Supervisory experience highly desirable. The position does require physical exertion and the ability to climb stairs, climb a ladder and lift objects up to 40 lbs as necessary.
