The New Children’s Museum is seeking young adults to fill our Summer Programs counselor positions. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain experience in a museum setting while working with internationally recognized contemporary artists. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about the arts and working with children. Counselors will assist the artists and NCM staff with daily operations during the Summer Programs. Counselors will also be asked to supervise classroom and outdoor activities with students, so they must be comfortable with children and leading small groups. Counselors may also be asked to contribute to classroom instruction.
We have a number of hands-on art camps for students, grade 1 – 12. Our camps run from June 23rd to August 15th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

DEPARTMENT: Exhibitions and Programs
REPORTS TO: Education Curator or Director of Exhibitions and Programs in the interim TYPE OF
POSITION: Full-time or part-time, non-exempt
SALARY: $8 per hour
Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist the artists and NCM staff with daily operations during the Summer Programs
  • Supervise classroom and outdoor activities with students
  • Contribute to classroom instruction
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing personality
  • A knowledge of and/or interest in contemporary art
  • Must work well with children ages 6 – 18, experience in an educational field preferred
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Must be available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. from June 23rd – August 15th
  • Additional Hours may be required

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The majority of work is performed in a school/classroom environment with attendant noise level and requires observance of safe work practices, fire regulations, and avoidance of falls, trips, and similar office work hazards.
Salary: $8 per hour
