Florida Institute of Technology is accepting applications for a Collections Manager to oversee the collection of the new Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts, a campus gallery scheduled to open in the Fall of 2009.

The Collections Manager is a full-time staff position responsible for the acquisition, organization and care of the permanent textiles collection.

The position manages all aspects of the textiles collection, including registration, cataloging, preservation, conservation and incoming/outgoing loan requests and agreements, and donor contact, and oversees the mounting and maintenance of gallery exhibits.

This position trains and works closely with volunteers and other staff, particularly in the Facilities Department, to implement tactics that serve the Textile Center’s mission and that are guided by its long-range plan.

The Collections Manager is responsible for administering all collection-related budgets. In addition, the position maintains and updates collections policies and procedures by working with the Acquisitions Committee and the Director.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Art, Art History, Museum Studies; Textiles specialization preferred.

* Understanding of and/or direct experience with: professional museum standards for cataloguing artworks, collections management practices, registration methods.

* Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills.

* Computer proficiency including experience with Past Perfect or other museum database software, Photoshop, Microsoft applications.
