Primary Responsibilities
The Grant Coordinator plays two critical roles for the Japanese American National Museum: 1) being the primary staff member responsible for the ongoing management of approximately 60 to 80 secured grants/ contracts/ sponsorships; and 2) taking a leadership role in identifying prospective funders and providing assistance in writing proposals and other fund-raising materials
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year, accredited university very strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered as a substitute. A working knowledge of grantsmanship and grant management is strongly preferred. Superior organizational skills and attention to detail are critical; must have strong ability to multi-task, prioritize and work well under pressure to meet multiple competing deadlines. Experience in professional or technical writing, especially in writing for fund raising, is highly desirable. Familiarity with regional, national, and Japanese funders is a major plus. While very helpful, knowledge of Japanese American history and culture are not required. Excellent computer skills, with complete fluency in Word and Excel. Experience in Raiser's Edge or similar fund-raising software highly desirable. Must be Internet savvy and adept at Internet-based research; familiarity with online foundation directories and wealth-screening resources a significant plus. Experience with PowerPoint or in creating/using databases a significant plus.
