The Miami Science Museum is in the process of designing of a new, eye-catching, 250,000-square-foot museum in the heart of downtown Miami. The new museum, scheduled to open in 2012, will bring South Florida's coral reef system alive with a state-of-the-art aquarium, a 300-seat Planetarium, a wildlife center and a Traveling Exhibition Gallery bringing the best worldwide to Miami.
The museum seeks a Camp and Public Programs Manager who will develop, implement, and manage all public programming that enhances the visitor experience, including camp programs. The manager will ensure that program content correlates with education levels for museum and outreach audiences, and contains accurate scientific information, that is delivered appropriately to ensure integrity of content and that is presented in a dynamic way. The Manager is expected to assist with all museum departments in the development of the content for public programming for museum audiences, on-site special events, workshops and exhibits. The Manager will implement staff training of camp curriculum and public programming in addition to determining overall theme and class content for all camp programs.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Science with 3-5 years experience in science content development and in working in a museum environment.
• Must become certified or maintain own National Safety Council First Aid/CPR Instructor Certification as well as AED training/certification.
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
