The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, a forty four year old transportation history museum located west of Philadelphia, is seeking a candidate to succeed its retiring director. The museum’s focus is on the horse drawn and motorized vehicles of the Southeastern Pennsylvania region and the companies and the people who were significant in the region’s transportation history. The museum’s collections include more than 160 vehicles, numerous related objects, photographs and tools. The museum is housed in a vehicle factory founded in 1872. The early portion of the museum with its overhead power shafts and black smith forges is currently under restoration and craftsmen will soon interpret vehicle building and repair in a carriage factory during the transitional years around 1920.
Primary Responsibilities
The Director reports to the Board of Directors, manages a full time staff of five and is responsible for the planning, organizing and directing of museum activities including financial management and fund raising.
Qualifications
A strong candidate will have a Masters Degree in a relevant field, experience in senior management at a successful non-profit organization (preferably a museum), and excellent leadership and communications skills.
