Program
• Design curriculum framework for all programs to ensure consistency, program excellence, and adherence to best practices in youth development • Prepare ZUMIX for future programmatic growth by developing criteria and systems for the creation or addition of new programs • Supervise, manage, and develop the capacity of program staff and private instrumental teachers including an AmeriCorps Program Administrator • Lead staff, youth representatives, and board members in transitioning from a ZUMIX Logic Model and framework to the Boston Youth Arts Evaluation Project (BYAEP) model and framework. Oversee staff implementation of BYAEP tools to measure participant outcomes and assess program effectiveness • Develop a more meaningful youth leadership system within programs that supports further youth development as well as youth mentorship through focus on higher education, and career development.
Youth Development and Culture
• Work with staff & youth to maintain and build the ZUMIX culture as a “safe space” where student behavior and interactions are positive and where young people’s opinions, ideas, and actions are valued • Work to maintain and build investment and involvement of youth in organization; in particular, find and develop meaningful ways for youth to give feedback on programs, community and organizational growth, (e.g. youth advisory board, youth spokespersons, etc.) • Develop systems to involve ZUMIX alumni as appropriate
Administrative
• Serve as a member of the ZUMIX management team, responsible for making key organizational decisions • Represent, promote, and advocate for ZUMIX externally at funder meetings, outreach events, performances, public forums, online, and other venues • Ensure that program grants reflect the goals of the program and vice-versa. • Serve as primary point of contact with ZUMIX parents, community leaders, and schools

Required Qualifications:
• Experience with non-profit management • Strong belief in music as an empowering educational tool • Experience in and demonstrated commitment to youth development • Proactive approach to problem-solving • Ability to juggle multiple projects and responsibilities • Excellent writing and communication skills, • PC, Mac, and web literacy • Excellent organizational skills • Verbal and written fluency in Spanish
Additional Desired Qualifications: • Advanced understanding of music performance, theory and pedagogy • Ability to play at least one instrument at an advanced level • Proven ability to teach entry level music • Experience in music education and curriculum development • Experience with Logic Model and outcomes measurement frameworks • Demonstrated 1-3 year youth development experience • Outstanding outreach and youth-organizing skills • Commitment to working with low-income and/or at-risk youth from various racial and ethnic backgrounds • Creative, motivated, dynamic and outgoing individual • Masters Degree preferred • Verbal and written fluency in Portuguese

mid $40,000’s commensurate with experience / individual health & dental / Hours: ZUMIX is open M-F 10am-8pm. Program staff generally work 12pm-8pm. ZUMX is an equal opportunity employer
