The South Florida Science Museum in Palm Beach County is seeking a Director of Guest Experience with a proven track record in educational outreach in the sciences as well as exhibit-related projects and programs. The Museum provides educational programming to nearly 70,000 students within Palm Beach County, and seeks to continue to develop and deploy evidence-based programs based on the sunshine state standards to enable educators to address their most challenging educational needs.

The Museum serves as a hub for informal science experiences within Palm Beach County. The 23,000 square foot museum offers a planetarium, salt and fresh water aquariums, as well as permanent and traveling exhibitions. The Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic vision for the Guest Experience divisions to include education and exhibits projects and programs, programmatic grants and contracts, as well as overseeing department planning and management. The director will have experience in: writing and managing programmatic grants and contracts including conception and writing, budgets, compliance, and time allocations; development as well as evaluation and quality improvement of educational programs; development of public programming including exhibitions and related mission-based events that meets the publics’ needs and interests; oversight of scheduling and training; and, liaising within the community with educational peers and partners.

The Director reports to the Deputy Director and is part of the Museum’s Senior Management Team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of a master’s degree and 5 plus years of applicable experience.
