G.WIZ - The Science Museum, Sarasota, Florida (Anthropology, Archaeology, Children's, Science)
Brief History of G.WIZ - Gulfcoast Wonder & Imagination Zone - began as the Gulf Coast World of Science (GCWS) in December 1990. In October 1991, the GCWS opened to the public with only 1,000 square feet and just ten hands-on exhibits. GCWS was soon granted membership in the Association of Science & Technology Centers (ASTC) and ten months later GCWS expanded to 6,000 feet.
Gadsby's Tavern Museum, Alexandria, Virginia (History, Historic House)
The museum consists of two tavern buildings made famous in the 18th century by tavern keeper John Gadsby. The taverns were a center of political, business and social life in early Alexandria. Famous patrons include George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
