The Layland is a medium-sized museum in a beautiful structure in the heart of downtown Cleburne. There is great local affection for the building as being the "old" library where many residents enjoyed time there. It's a grand legacy. Exhibits discuss everyday life and visitors relate well to photographs of children with pets, women in hats, and men posing with fishes. It is an easy museum to wander through.

The Leanin’ Tree Museum and Sculpture Garden of Western and Wildlife Art features fine art paintings and bronzes of western America created after 1930. It has been restored to the 1950 era of railroading and is operated as a museum by the Linden-Madison Township Historical Society. The fully air-conditioned Depot Museum features a collection of "railroadiana" material mainly from the two railroads it once served: the Monon and the Nickel Plate. The Monon agent's room houses the E.E. Kauffman train collection, including a 3/4" scale, live steam model of the Monon 4-4-0 locomotive with passenger coach.

The New Era School was built in 1884 and served students in grades 1 through 8 until 1956. The facility then served as a community building for the Missouri Run area. It was later turned over to the Wood County Association of Retired School Employees. In 1991, the Living Heritage Museum Project, a newly formed volunteer organization, acquired the building for restoration.

Of the houses built in Jefferson County in the late eighteenth century, Locust Grove was one of the finest. The Croghan family sold the property in 1878 to river boat captain James Paul. In 1883 Richard Waters, of Hermitage Farm, bought Locust Grove and it remained in the Waters family until 1961 when the site was purchased by Jefferson County and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Following extensive restoration the historic house was opened to the public in 1964.

Follow the trail tour with a visit to the Lodi Lake Discovery Center, where students can learn about river dynamics on a “Mini-Moke” river table, or view the "Dead Zoo," a mounted collection of animal specimens, usually found along the river. Depending on grade level and class interest, the room can be interpreted to suit teacher needs.
