The Eagle Tavern is one of the earliest surviving structures in Oconee County. The Eagle Tavern was built before 1801 and possibly as early as 1794 when Watkinsville was a frontier town on the edge of Creek and Cherokee Indian Territories. It is believed by some that this site was once called Fort Edwards and served as a gathering place for early settlers who needed protection from attacks by the many Creek and Cherokee Indians who flourished in this area.

Museum of agricultural and rural life of Pitt County and Eastern North Carolina. A new life for the East Carolina Village of Yesteryear is hardly 12 months away. By summer 2009, the Village and its 18 structures will be at the new site on County Home Road in Pitt County, North Carolina.
Thanks to the County Commissioners and volunteers, Pitt County citizens and people from all over the United States can experience a new museum and community venue.

The East Granby Historical Society announces that its new book, The Barns of East Granby: Our Agricultural Heritage, is now available for sale at the East Granby town clerk's office. It can also be purchased by using the on-line order form. Authored by two longtime East Granby residents, Betty Guinan and Ted Holly, the book features 269 photos over 130 pages. The text includes brief histories of local farms with descriptions of their barns and other outbuildings.
