On September 12, 1991, the Ice House received an historical designation from the Texas Historical Commission. With the help of volunteers and donations, the badly deteriorating building was restored to a usable condition, and the volunteers began to acquire permanent works of art and historical pieces for display. To exhibit the artwork, these volunteers designed a fine art gallery where exhibitions continue to draw art lovers year round.

Displays and 19 carefully preserved buildings tell the story of those who struggled to tame a sprawling wildernewss on the edge of the Big Cypress Swamp at the turn of the last century. The Indiana Medical History Museum is located in the Old Pathology Building on the grounds of the former Central State Hospital on the near westside of Indianapolis. The museum represents the beginning of scientific psychiatry and modern medicine while the building itself is the oldest surviving pathology facility in the nation and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Plano Conservancy for Historic Preservation, Inc., a newly organized 501c3 non profit Texas Corporation, entered into an agreement with the City Of Plano to operate the Interurban Railway Station Depot Museum. This unique museum is focused on the Electric Railway System which operated in North Texas from 1908-1948.

The museum houses artifacts and displays from that system. In addition a one of a kind combination passenger/railroad postal car is displayed on the property.

Historica Village with the original Iola and Northern Railway Depot built in 1894, Log Cabin, Helvetia Town Hall, Replica Country School House and Replica of original Iola Fire House which houses the first three mechanzied Fire Engines including a 1912 Waterous Pumper that was horse drawn. The historical society also has two other large building that are being set up as museums.

The Ironhorse Central Railroad Museum is located in Chisago City, MN and has been in this present location since 1966. Richard and Robert Thompson and Doug Alexander started back in the 1950's collecting memorabilia, taking photos and going on MRA fan trips. They purchased engine # 4 in 1963 and had it stored until 1966 when it was moved to the present location.

The Ischua Valley Historical Society owns 2 buildings in which we house historical items and documents. In order to maintain the integrity of the buildings we need to establish a Building Maintenance Fund, the money from which will go toward necessary repairs. We are asking for donations for the Fund. As a non-profit organization, the money you send to us is tax deductible. It's a great way to lower your tax liability.
