Rantoul, Illinois

In light of the impending closure of Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois, Mayor Katy Podagrosi established the Air Museum Committee in 1989. She concluded: "A museum will not contribute to Rantoul's economic survival; it will contribute to Rantoul's cultural survival."

In 1991, The Air Museum Committee was charged with establishing a governing Foundation and acquiring the funding for a museum.

The Old Bradford Pioneer Village Museum has 13 buildings on its walking tour, including an original Great Western Depot and a Chicago Northwestern caboose. Dr. Pitts' medical office, two authentic log homes, General Store, Laundry, Blacksmith Shop, Agriculture Bldg, Heritage Bldg, Cottage, Jail, one room schoolhouse and toy shop. The Cottage is the only original building to the grounds. It was the home of the caretaker of the Little Brown Church, which sits adjacent to the museum property.
Fort Bliss, Texas

In an effort to present a more accurate picture of Fort Bliss at Magoffinsville site, the buildings now house “period rooms” representing life at the post and surrounding area in 1857. The garrison then consisted of several companies of the 8th Infantry and a company Regiment of Mounted Rifles. Daily activities necessary to house, feed, and maintain a military force at a remote frontier outpost are interpreted in the period rooms and work yard.

Old Fort Johnson is the original limestone house built by Sir William Johnson, Superintendent of Indian Affairs and hero at the Battles of Lake George and Fort Niagara. The Fort was home to William, Catherine Wisenberg, Molly Brant, John Johnson and family throughout the French & Indian War.

Fort Meade was an active military fort from 1878 to 1944. Today it is active in Officer Training Schools. They perserve the history in and to the Black Hills of South Dakota. The museum displays many remnants of the historic peacekeeping old post and faithfully preserves them. There are numerous mementos of the colorful units and the troopers who served at the Fort Meade Museum.

Old Fort Parker is a very early Texas fort built in 1833, and since reconstructed. The Comanche Indains as well as the Anglo Parker participate in keeping this historic site alive. The Orange County Historical Museum is located in downtown Historic Hillsborough, one of the early capital cities of North Carolina. The community is steeped in history, from the early Native Americans, the Occaneechi, to the hanging of the Regulators apprehended during the Battle of Alamance, a prelude engagement to the American Revolution. Soldiers from the British Army to Confederate soldiers of the American Civil War have marched through the streets of this quaint town.

The Museum, opened in 1946 as a living monument to creative freedom and the service of World War I and II veterans, is located in a lush four acre urban garden oasis. Along with art classes and garden programs, the Museum hosts six to seven professional art exhibitions each year featuring a variety of style and media. At the Overland Trail Museum, located on Highway 6, east of the South Platte River in northeastern Colorado, your family can travel back in time and imagine themselves as part of the historic migration of gold seekers and early pioneers. Built in 1936, the museum was named after the Overland Trail stage route that branched off from the Oregon Trail in Nebraska and followed the south bank of the South Platte River through northeastern Colorado.
