The Silent Wings Museum is dedicated to telling the history of the American WWII military glider program. The museum was originally established by the National WWII Glider Pilots Association, Inc. View a restored WACO CG-4A, the military mainstay of the U.S. glider force that flew in every major allied invasion of the Second World War. In 1996, the City of Clermont purchased the Clermont Historic Village property, which included the Train Depot and the Quonset Hut. The South Lake County Historical Society was formed in 1998. The SLCHS and the City of Clermont have a cooperative agreement allowing the Historical Society to operate the Historic Village.
