The museum and its exhibits and outdoor arboretum provide a window into our history, diverse animal and plant life, and Maine environment.

We are housed in a spacious, Colonial-style building with ample parking and lawns for outside events. Listed by the American Automobile Association as a 'GEM Site,' we offer interesting, educational displays 5 days a week, along with special events such as our annual Civil War Weekend in June, and Old Car Show in July. Special theme displays, guest speakers, and more are routinely scheduled.

The La Quinta Museum celebrates La Quinta's history and cultural arts through displays on two floors. There is a diorama of a Cahuilla Indian village and another depicting native animals. Photos of the early resorts remind us of the attraction of the desert early on. The community room exhibits a 32 foot long mural of La Quinta highlights painted by Andre Blanche.

The currently operating sash-type sawmill (up and down or reciprocating motion versus a spinning circular blade) with its horizontal iron water turbine and gears dates from about 1870, but there were sawmills on the site at Lee's Brook Pond in Ledyard, CT long before then. There were references to a mill pond here from as early as the 1740s. A sawmill belonging to Nathaniel Brown II and Increase B. Stoddard stood on this site in the late 1790s.

A unit of the Museum of Texas Tech University, the Lubbock Lake Landmark is an archaeological and natural history preserve at the northern edge of the city of Lubbock, Texas. The Landmark contains evidence of almost 12,000 years of occupation by ancient peoples on the Southern High Plains.

The Landmark welcomes visitors of all ages year round. In the summer months, watch as areas on the preserve are actively excavated.
