The new Planetarium system - the Super Mediaglobe II installed in February of 2014 - is the world's first full-color single-lens digital planetarium.

The museum houses the lifetime collection of the late Wilbur May -- department store magnate, Reno rancher, big-game hunter, businessman, philanthropist, and world traveler. May made over 40 trips around the world amassing an amazing collection of artifacts including Tang Dynasty pottery, Greek and Roman icons, weapons, and African tribal items. The collection also features a shrunken human head from South America and over 200 pieces of taxidermy.

In addition to the display of our natural collections, we hope to develop interpretive displays inside our building and along out trails. Willow Park Zoo is home to over 100 species of birds, 12 species of mammals, and various fish and turtles. You may encounter a bald eagle on an open perch, the yap of a coyote in the afternoon, or the bugle of a bull elk on a crisp fall morning. Large rainbow trout may be seen rising to greet their breakfast or you may choose to just relax and enjoy the grass, trees, and nature. Also, over 80 species of wild birds visit the zoo, some of which nest here.
