The Burke Museum creates a better understanding of the world and our place in it. The museum is responsible for Washington State collections of natural history and cultural heritage, and for sharing the knowledge that makes them meaningful. The Burke welcomes a broad and diverse audience and provides a community gathering place that nurtures life-long learning and encourages respect, responsibility, and reflection.

Padilla Bay is an estuary at the saltwater edge of the large delta of the Skagit River in the Salish Sea. It is about eight miles long (north to south) and three miles across. In 1980, this bay was selected to be included in the National Estuarine Research Reserve System.

Aquarium, Nature Centers, Science
Poulsbo’s Marine Science Center and Aquarium is a unique facility. We don’t believe in “do not touch”. Our Tide-pool touch tank allows you to interact with most of the animals you will find on your next Puget Sound beach walk. You can get “up close and personal” with several species of sea star, anemone, urchin, crab, shrimp, even a sea cucumber and other surprises!

Tour groups must be scheduled in advance. Visitors can get a quick overview of the garden in an hour, but serious plant and garden enthusiasts will want to spend more time. Please schedule extra time for visitors in your group who may wish to browse through our Gift Shop and Plant Sales Pavilion for unique gifts, books, apparel and plants!
