Description

For 200 years, the Academy has connected people to nature. As Philadelphia's natural history museum, we educate visitors of all ages. Our scientists study evolution, biodiversity and ecology, providing information critical to understanding the natural world. These efforts are supported by a collection of 17 million biological specimens and a celebrated natural-history library.

Artifacts Collections

  ·  The Academy's Ewell Sale Stewart Libray has a significant archival collection that is of special interst to scholars interested in the history of Natural History of the United States.

Research Collections

Programs

  ·  The Academy has an active Education Department that offers services to schools, camps, homeschool families, scouts and other groups. These programs are held at The Academy (field trips) or as outreach. Groups can also take Behind-the-Scenes tours of our collections. Town Square, Science for Citizens, is an evening series that presents guest speakers and addresses a variety of issues relating to science and the public (e.g, environmental issues, evolution)
