The Bannock County Historical Museum houses exhibits illustrating Pocatello's early railroad history and Shoshone-Bannock Indian artifacts. It sits adjacent to the Fort Hall Replica and the Ross Park Zoo in Pocatello.
Our Museum has such cool stuff. We are re-doing our Railroad exhibit, and recently finished a water exhibit with an old kettle washer. We have an antique dentist office, and a 1914 Fire truck!
The museum was originally housed in the Carnegie Library Building. In the early 90's the Historical Society built a brand new building. Our donor wall is the only one of it's kind in the United states. A local artist sand-blasted scenes from history into granite and then painted them.
Medical room with 1890's ephemera. Turn of the century Parlor, early Indian artifacts, early Railroad, and military exhibits.
Early city directories, and family historys. All by donation.
Small exhibits can be taken to public events with advance notice. The director also taught a historical education program for our elementary after school program.
