The mission of the University of West Florida Art Gallery is the preservation, study and communication of Contemporary Art. In its role as a university art gallery devoted to the exhibition, interpretation and study of Contemporary Art, the Gallery addresses the sometimes controversial questions inherent in the art of today. A major emphasis of the UWF Art Gallery is education. In this capacity, the Gallery serves as a teaching facility for students of the University of West Florida. Through exhibitions and programs, the Gallery also provides art education and cultural awareness to other Northwest Florida students of all ages and institutions and to the Gulf Coast community in general. In addition to Contemporary Art, the Gallery also exhibits the finest available art from other historical periods and cultures and has a permanent collection of mostly Modern and Contemporary works on paper which are exhibited on a regular basis.
