Description

To instill the citizens of the Weslaco area pride and appreciation in their history and culture; to be unique cultural, educational, and informational resource for the City of Weslaco, and become an important tourist destination.

History

A Brief History During the sixties, civic leaders requested various clubs and businesses to gather artifacts to help the city of Weslaco celebrate its 50th Anniversary. Items were displayed at the Edinburg Museum and provided a resource for a book about Weslaco's early years. This stimulated civic leaders to find a permanent home for these artifacts. Worlds Smallest Museum City officials helped find a privately owned site near Texas Blvd. & 5th street. In 1971 the museum found its first home in a building that still stands, known by some as the "world's smallest museum." Our Current Home After many moves, the museum came to blossom at the old library site on Kansas. We are open at 515 S. Kansas next to the Weslaco Public Library. Volunteer docents will welcome you on Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 1-4 p.m.
