The 1860 Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse is a great tour destination and the best view in Palm Beach County. A museum in a renovated WWII building exhibits "Five Thousand Years on the Loxahatchee," featuring Native American,Pioneer and Military history,a lighthouse movie, museum gift shop and a snack cafe. Exterior exhibits include the 1892 Tindall Pioneer Homestead & Native American sites, as well as the Lighthouse and Oil House exhibit.
As Stewards of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum, the Loxahatchee River Historical Society safeguards, sustains and interprets the historical sites and dynamic maritime heritage of the Loxahatchee River Region in southeast Florida.
The Loxahatchee River and the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse make the history of Northern Palm Beach County unique in all of Florida. From Native American habitation dating back at least 5,000 years, to modern military occupation, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Reservation site at the juncture of the Loxahatchee River, the Indian River and the 126 acre Lighthouse site was designated the Jupiter Inlet Lighhtouse Outstanding Natural Area by Congress in 2008, the first Outstanding Natural Area in the Eastern United States. July 10, 2010 marks the 150th Anniversary of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse.
