GMA's exhibition and collection focus is on works by North Carolina artists. It has seven exhibition galleries including the "Francis Speight and Sarah Blakeslee Gallery" as well as the "Kenneth Noland Gallery".

Founded in 1939, GMA is the center of the visual arts in Greenville and Pitt County.
