History

The 1890 whipple company store was the center of coal camp life in the turn of the century through the 50's The 18,000 sq ft building and its unique structure is captivating as well as wonderous to see. We strive to celebrate the cultural heritage of the west virginia coal miner and the familes that lived, wored and died here.

Research Collections

Coal mining books and panaramic photos of coal miners. rent books and company store reciepts for name research. Geneology records of fayette co. families. Personal stories on cd. 1938 coal camp silent film with company personal and families in the coal camps of Fayette Co.

Educational Programs

Hands on programs through=out the summer may-oct for children. workshops and day camps for learning and experiencing coal camp life in the 1930s.
