The old train tracks in front of our museum have a restored caboose and coal car sitting on them. The museum is full of donated artifacts from Black Diamond and surrounding communities that pertain to a company owned coal mining town. There are many historical pictures and a simulated coal mine complete with electric engine and coal car. The Black Diamond original two man jail is located on our grounds as well as wash shed and fire station with hand fire pulled hose cart. Inside the museum you will find displays of a Doctors Office, Parlor, Kitchen, School Room, Barbershop, Candy Shop, Train dispatch office, Post Office within our General Store, Sewing Machines, Office Machines, Washing Machines, Automobile and Truck engines and Transmissions.

The Bainbridge Island Historical Museum is located in the heart of downtown Winslow, three blocks from the Seattle-Bainbridge ferry terminal. A 1908 restored island schoolhouse features the main exhibit gallery containing a nationally award-winning exhibit "An Island Story". The museum’s research library (free to the public) contains subject and biographical files, oral histories, videos, books, and historic photographs. The history of Bainbridge Island covers a wide range of historic eras and themes, including Native American culture, early explorers, lumber and shipbuilding industries, agriculture, WWII, and the Japanese American Internment histories. Visit the museum store for books, children’s gifts and other historic souvenirs.
