The Sachse Historical Society was established in 1989 to presesrve the history of the community, and record the present for future generations. The city of Sachse made available to the Society a building, which was renovated in 2005 and opened as a museum in 2006. In 2006 a master plan for the direction of the museum was implemented, and collections software was installed in 2007.

It was established in this North Texas town of 7,000 people by Speaker Sam Rayburn who made this community his home for more than half a century. As he explained to a friend, I have a lot of valuable books and I won t want them to be scattered. I want to keep them together in the community which I have served all these years.
