International Swimming Hall of Fame

History

This not-for-profit educational organization annually honors the world's greatest aquatic heroes and preserves the sport's history in a museum that houses swimming, diving, synchronized swimming and water polo memorabilia, including films, books, interactive video displays and endless archives relating to aquatic sports. A plethora of Olympic memorabilia from over 100 countries includes gold medals won by some of the sport's brightest stars. The training facility contains, a swimming flume, training pool, two Olympic-size swimming pools and diving well used for training by some Olympic competitors.

IMAG History & Science Center

The IMAG History & Science Center offers fun for all ages to discover the wonders of science and history, providing a large open environment to explore over 60 hands-on exhibits. Feed a stingray, touch animals in the LIVE! Animal Encounter shows, and visit the Living Lab to see turtles, snakes, frogs, a bearded dragon, and much more! Gaze at the Florida native, and exotic fish in the 3,200-gallon aquarium built by Animal Planet’s Tanked and visit the original fort of Fort Myers in a one-of-a-kind 3D Virtual Reality experience. Younger visitors will enjoy the Mini Museum’s early childhood area.

Indian River Citrus Museum/Heritage Center

History

The Heritage Center was originally built in 1935 as the “Community Building”. During WWII an addition was built and this addition now houses the Indian River Citrus Museum. The museum has a small exhibit on the history of the citrus industry in the county and its continuing importance today.
