Historical museum preserving the past, present and future for the historical, ethnic, cultural and tourism values to LeMars and Plymouth County
Over 24,000 midwestern artifacts are exhibited. Features an award-winning exhibition which tells the story of Wayne County from prairie days to the present and a large collection of farm implements and other items used in rural life from the 1850s to present.

1843 home of Iowa's first territorial governor, Robert Lucas. Restored and furnished to the 1840s.

Many artifacts from Prairie City's history are housed in the museum including the Dowden Potato Digger, which was originally manufactured in Prairie City.

The Putnam Museum is a regional museum featuring exhibits, programs and events focusing on the history and natural environments of eastern Iowa and western Illinois.

The SCFM Annual Conference is a time where we can celebrate the impact that museums have made on the state of South Carolina. It’s a time where we can share our successes, learn from our challenges, and grow as museum professionals.
We look forward to this year's conference September 16-18, 2024 in Laurens, SC. This year's theme is Fostering Community: There is No Museum Without "Us."
