Historical Society

Township resident Maude Kenyon founded the Tewksbury Historical Society on February 19, 1989. The Society is organized exclusively to further research into and the preservation and dissemination of the history of the Township of Tewksbury, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The Tewksbury Historical Society is a non-profit organization under the Internal Revenue Code (IRS) 501 (c) (3). The Society is also a New Jersey nonprofit corporation having been incorporated on January 9, 1992. The Society is governed by an 11 member Executive Committee made up of four officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer) who are elected by the membership for two-year terms and 7 chairmen of standing committees.

Thomas Warne Museum stands on the brink of a becoming a vital historical site in Old Bridge amid the burgeoning of suburban sprawl. The museum is a source of historical data from the earliest days of the town's history. Michael Launay, VP of the Madison Township Historical Society, has authored a book with the assistance of former museum curator, Alvia Martin, "Old Bridge" and is currently working on "Old Bridge Founding Families" for the society. The museum contains a 1912 film, "The Juggernaut" filmed locally on a waxed spindel, various pottery jars, hand-turned wrought iron and the original one-room school house in which the museum is located. Another facet of the museum is the geneological data and photos as well as maps of antiquity.

Township of Ocean Historical Museum

?The Township of Ocean Historical Museum occupies Eden Woolley House, located at 703 Deal Road, Oakhurst, New Jersey 07755, in front of the Ocean Township Library and part of Joe Palaia Park. The Eden Woolley House, circa 1747, is one of the few 18th Century Homes surviving in Ocean Township. The house is an architectural gem and a 250+-year repository of local history. It was saved from destruction in 2005 and moved 1,000 feet east to its present location in Joe Palaia Park. It has been historically restored and open to the public to tell the story of Ocean Township and its surrounding communities. The house was occupied by the Woolley Family for most of its life.
