The Trails & Rails Museum has six historic buildings to tour through, as well as livery barn and an authentic Union Pacific steam engine and caboose. The archive building is used by researchers all over the world. We have acquired the land to the west of us and can almost double in size. Join us for several special events through-out the year! We are located on the original Mormon Trail Route (current 11th St.)

The Crawford Historical Museum, run by the Crawford Historical Society, is located in the oldest commercial building of downtown Crawford, Nebraska. It curates a variety of displays detailing the history and culture of the area. The Museum also has collected a wide range of research material, most notably including an extensive obituary database.

Fairbury City Museum

The Fairbury City Museum has been located for many years on the west side of the square in downtown Fairbury. The museum opened in its new location, the former West Ward School, in the fall of 1998. This move has enabled us to present our collection in a much more pleasant atmosphere and encourages visitors to more fully explore all the treasures which had previously been hidden.

The Museum is in a 1906 Burlington Passenger Station, the first Neo-Classical Revival architectural style on the Burlington line. This building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

International Quilt Study Center

The IQSC's mission is two-fold: to study those past and present who have practiced the tradition, the objects they have made and the materials they have used, and to collect, conserve and exhibit quilts and associated textiles.

Collections

The collections of the International Quilt Study Center have grown to include nearly 2000 quilts representing fourteen countries. The IQSC is dedicated to locating the finest examples of quilts of all eras and geographical origins.

LUX Center for the Arts

In 1985, Ms. Gladys Lux, an artist and professor of art at Wesleyan University, purchased the former city hall building of the village of University Place to house the University Place Art Center, a nonprofit community arts organization. Her intention was to provide for the public a location for art education and exhibition. The building was also to house and exhibit her personal collections.

The Plattsmouth Conservancy is dedicated to the preservation of Plattsmouth's architectural heritage. The Plattsmouth Conservancy is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging city residents and businesses to wisely use and retain their historical homes and buildings. The Conservancy seeks to promote the identification, evaluation, preservation, and restoration of these buildings. The organization strives to stimulate and support public awareness of such places by exchanging information and ideas, conducting tours and seminars, and gathering materials and books for public use.

The Indian Industrial School at Genoa was the fourth non-reservation boarding institution established by the Office of Indian Affairs. The facility opened on February 20, 1884, and, like other such schools, its mission was to educate and "civilize" Native American children. The students that came to the Genoa Indian school were from more than 15 states and over 40 tribal Nations. In time the school grew from the original 74 students to an enrollment of 599, and encompassed over 30 buildings on 640 acres. The school closed in 1934. The Indian School building that remains is the Manual Training building. The Manual Training building is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons from 1-5pm and is staffed by 'Docents'.
