Established in 1930 by Dr. and Mrs. Warner Karshner, the Paul H. Karshner Memorial Museum provides firsthand learning opportunities for K-5 students in the Puyallup School District.

The Prairie House Museum is an 1890's restored Gable and Wing Farm House with displays representing the lifestyle and history of Spanaway's schools, merchants and early settlers. The interpretive room is host to changing displays reflecting various eras of local history.

Visitors can explore the naval history of the region and experience life as a sailor through exhibits about the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, the USS John C. Stennis aircraft carrier, special operations submarines, and much more. The museum is handicap accessible and provides visitors with a Family Discovery Room, Dry Dock Theater, museum store, and a research library. Regularly scheduled educational and family programming is available. Admission is FREE.
The Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection is an outdoor museum of living art, featuring more than 50 outstanding bonsai in an elegant setting. Special exhibits, lectueres, guided tours and educational literature are offered at no charge.

Our 2024 WVAM Conference will be held at Shepherd Universit
in Shepherdstown, WV on June 6-8, 2024
WVAM conference is a program of papers, presentations, workshops, and poster sessions addressing our theme of “America at 250: West Virginia Plans for the Semiquincentennial.”
We’ll kick off the event with a virtual day on Wednesday, July 24, hosted in collaboration with the Association of Midwest Museums (AMM). Then, we’ll gather in-person at the Hilton Columbus at Easton from July 31-August 3 for sessions, networking, and museum exploration. The SCFM Annual Conference is a time where we can celebrate the impact that museums have made on the state of South Carolina. It’s a time where we can share our successes, learn from our challenges, and grow as museum professionals.
We look forward to this year's conference September 16-18, 2024 in Laurens, SC. This year's theme is Fostering Community: There is No Museum Without "Us."
