The Museum per se was established about 40 years ago in the old County Jail. We have recently revitalized it, weeded the collection and embarked on considerable document cataloging and preservation.

The Trails & Rails Museum has six historic buildings to tour through, as well as livery barn and an authentic Union Pacific steam engine and caboose. The archive building is used by researchers all over the world. We have acquired the land to the west of us and can almost double in size. Join us for several special events through-out the year! The Crawford Historical Museum, run by the Crawford Historical Society, is located in the oldest commercial building of downtown Crawford, Nebraska. Five different buildings of treasures of Dixon County history. Our Research Room is a great help for genealogists, lots of old newspapers from Dixon County. Also we are getting to gether the history and memories of the RRs that run through Dixon County. Our country School house has pictures and records books from country schools in Dixon county.

The Fairbury City Museum has been located for many years on the west side of the square in downtown Fairbury. The museum opened in its new location, the former West Ward School, in the fall of 1998. This move has enabled us to present our collection in a much more pleasant atmosphere and encourages visitors to more fully explore all the treasures which had previously been hidden.
