Tamiami Trail) in Sarasota, Florida, the Museum’s 60,000 square foot facility sits on 4 acres of land near such good neighbors as The Ringling Museum of Art and The Asolo Theater, home of the Sarasota Ballet Company. The SCCM is a Museum by day and a Banquet and Event Facility by night. A 4,000 square foot open-air garden Atrium in the center of the Museum is used for dining and dancing amidst the car collection.

To enhance students' appreciation of the cultural and environmental aspects of Marion County and north central Florida. Our efforts are to motivate students through the use of exhibits, guided tours on an interpretive nature trail, and hands-on activities and lab as well as introducing them to scientific and technological equipment used to learn about the environment. Now open to the public all year Saturday & Sunday 9 :00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. along with the Silver River State Park.

In 1996, the City of Clermont purchased the Clermont Historic Village property, which included the Train Depot and the Quonset Hut. The South Lake County Historical Society was formed in 1998. The SLCHS and the City of Clermont have a cooperative agreement allowing the Historical Society to operate the Historic Village.
