The Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium is a private, 501(c)(3), not for profit, environmental education organization located in Fort Myers, Florida. Our 105-acre site has a museum, three nature trails, a 44'-diameter dome theater planetarium, butterfly and bird aviaries, a gift shop and meeting and picnic areas.

Gaze at the Florida native, and exotic fish in the 3,200-gallon aquarium built by Animal Planet’s Tanked and visit the original fort of Fort Myers in a one-of-a-kind 3D Virtual Reality experience. Younger visitors will enjoy the Mini Museum’s early childhood area.

A restored 1924 Atlantic Coastline Railroad depot, the museum is home to the history of Southwest Florida from Paleo man and animals through the 20th Century. Special attractions are a pioneer “cracker” house, 1926 La France fire pumper and 1929 private Pullman rail car.

The Edison and Ford Winter Estates is a National Register Historic Site and Florida Historic Landmark with 13 historic buildings, including the 1927 botanic research laboratory and a 15,000-square-foot museum on 20 acres of botanical gardens. The site is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and some evenings for special events.

Built in 1901, this Georgian Revival Mansion was the scene of many social events that hosted the Fort Myers' elite including the Edisons, Fords, and Firestones. Antique furnishings, historical artifacts, and delightful tales of growing up as the privileged daughters of wealthy businessman Nelson Burroughs and his wife Adeline await visitors who want to take a step back in time.
