The Southeastern Museums Conference (SEMC), begun in 1951, is a nonprofit membership organization that serves 12 states throughout the Southeast - Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia - and Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. SEMC fosters professionalism, mutual support, and communication among its members and the larger museum community. A nonprofit membership organization, SEMC strives to increase educational and professional development opportunities, improve the interchange of ideas and information, and encourage respect and collegiality.

Inside SEMC is SEMC’s digital newsletter, published three times per calendar year. A link is posted on the SEMC website and past issues can be found online. An email containing a link to the newsletter is emailed to current and past SEMC members as well as potential members.

We are interested in receiving news about exhibition openings, awards, personnel, acquisitions, professional development, grants, and capital improvement projects and any other newsworthy items. We focus on the Southeastern United State including: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands. //////// A great conference requires great sessions! SEMC relies on museum professionals and industry partners representing a variety of backgrounds, expertise, and experience to craft informative and relevant sessions for our annual conference. We encourage a wide range of proposals from individuals at any career level from any size or type of museum. SESSION PROPOSALS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL JANUARY 31, 2022.
