Sandwich Glass Museum displays over 11,000 glass objects in 15 galleries. Glassblowing demonstrations daily on the hour, theater presentation, special exhibits, contemporary gallery and a dazzling Museum Store.

Mission

The Mission of the Sandwich Glass Museum, incorporated as the Sandwich Historical Society, is to promote a broad understanding and appreciation of Sandwich town history, with particular emphasis on the unique contribution of the glass industry to the local community, the region, the nation, and the world.

History

Glassmaking began in Sandwich in 1825 with the founding of a small factory by Deming Jarves and was known as the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company. The factory operated until 1888, when it shut its doors. The Sandwich Historical Society was incorporated in 1907.

Artifact Collections

Over 11,000 glass objects made in Sandwich between 1825-1888 housed in fifteen galleries.

Educational Programs

Continuous changing exhibits, self-guided tours of the museum, lectures.
