Description

Strike your own American Gothic pose in front of the house that inspired Iowa artist Grant Wood to begin his most famous painting. Costumes and pitch fork are provided by the American Gothic House Center!

In the Center, enjoy educational exhibits and videos on Grant Wood, view a fascinating collection of American Gothic parodies, and pin your town on our map.

Mission

Integrating the pieces of American Gothic.

History

The American Gothic House was built in 1892, Grant Wood discovered it and painted his famous "American Gothic" in 1930, and the visitors center / museum was completed in 2007. Many grants and donations went in to the completion of this facility.
