Description

The Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum preserves and exhibits the diverse and exciting history of the City of Vallejo and the former U.S. Naval Shipyard at Mare Island. The Museum is located in Vallejo's historic Old City Hall and features five galleries devoted to community and U.S. Navy history.

Additionally, the Museum sponsors educational and cultural programs that include group tours, concerts and recitals in our Heritage Chamber, lectures, audio-visual presentations, and others special events for the benefit of the community. The Museum occupies over 25,000 square feet and has exhibits that are maintained in five galleries and include selection from the permanent collection of the Museum, local private collections, traveling exhibitions, and borrowed artifacts from the extensive collection at Mare Island. A working submarine periscope is installed though the roof and gives a panoramic view of the City and Mare Island.
