The York county Heritage Trust is an educational institution that uses its collections, museums, and historic sites to inspire people to explore the history and culture of York County, Pennsylvania. The Trust traces its roots to 1895 when interested citizens formed the Historical Society of York County to collect, preserve and interpret the history and culture of York County and its people. Since then, the organization has merged, partnered and evolved into the entity that is is today.
The Fire Museum is located in the historic 1903 Royal Fire House and showcases more than 200 years of firefighting in York county. The museum offers horse-drawn fire pumps, vintage fire trucks, firefighter's uniforms, equipment and photographs. Check out the old-fashioned firefighters's quarters, complete with brass slide pole as well as the original horse stables.
