The Natural History Museum is affiliated with the Department of Biology at Eastern New Mexico University. The purpose of the museum is to promote understanding of the diversity of life, emphasizing the natural heritage of eastern New Mexico and the greater Southwest.

The Natural History Museum is located in Roosevelt Hall on South Avenue K adjacent to the Portales National Bank branch office. The museum is located at the main entrance on the first floor.


Special tours of the Natural History Museum are available for school classes and other groups. Please call 575.562.2174 or 575.562.2462 to schedule a tour.


The mission of the museum is to gain an understanding of the diversity of life with an emphasis on the natural heritage of eastern New Mexico and the greater Southwest.
