Our mission is to collect, preserve and share the history of Cole County and its people. Our museum is located in two of three row houses that actually predate the Governor's Mansion which is across the street. We have exhibits on 4 floors, accessible by elevator, docents accompany tours to explain our displays and answer questions.

The Missouri State Museum houses an impressive collection of exhibits that portray Missouri's cultural and natural history in its two main exhibit halls - the History Hall and the Resources Hall. There are also exhibits with changing artifacts in the Missouri Veterans Gallery and the Foundations Gallery (state government and the State Capitol).

The Museum of Missouri Military History was opened in March of 1999.
